Tour starts at 10:00. Your guide will collect you from the hotel, and the journey will lead you northward along the Georgian Military Highway, weaving through the majestic Greater Caucasus mountains.Â
Our first stop will be at the medieval Ananuri fortress, situated on the right bank of the Zhinvali Reservoir. Erected during the 16th and 17th centuries, this complex encompasses two fortifications, two churches, and residential structures belonging to the influential Aragvi Eristavi feudal family. You'll have approximately 30 minutes to explore the site before continuing towards the Gudauri ski resort.Â
As the road ascends, the landscape transforms. Prior to reaching Stepantsminda (formerly known as Kazbegi), the path becomes serpentine and rapidly climbs in elevation. Along the way, we'll make a series of stops to admire the Monument of Peace (an observation platform), the Jvari Pass (at an altitude of 2300 meters), and the captivating Travertine Valley.Â
Upon reaching the highest point along the watershed of the Aragvi and Tergi Rivers, follow the subalpine road to Stepantsminda, the administrative hub of the Khevi province.Â
Lunch will be arranged at a local family café in Stepantsminda. The traditional highlight of this highland cuisine is homemade dumplings, available with beef filling or as vegetarian dumplings with mushrooms or potato.Â
Post-lunch, we'll proceed to the Gergeti Trinity Church. Perched atop Gergeti mountain, this church rests beneath the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5047 m). If the weather is favorable, you might even catch a glimpse of the majestic peak from Stepantsminda. Drive back to the hotel.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
